Introduction to Southern Maryland Businesses and The People Behind Them

As a ten year resident of Calvert County, Maryland  (one of the three countries which make up Southern Maryland - Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert), I've only recently strayed from my house to meet others. I joined the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce and Prince Frederick Chapter of  BNI (Business Network International) in the last couple of months. I'm also building relationships with local business in my town of Lusby.

For most people who have lived in Calvert County or Southern Maryland their entire life this may not seem like a big deal. However, my father was an Air Force pilot until I graduated from high school. I swore I would never move again after he retired. Never say never. I attended three different colleges and moved 27 times before I married my husband. Interestingly, he was a Naval officer at the time we married but we've never moved in the ten years we've been married. He retired and took a job here so we don't see ourselves moving again until the kids are out of high school. Maybe not even then.

Now that my kids are fairly self-sufficient, I'm returning to my true passions in life. I love to write! And I love to be an advocate for others. Thus my idea to create a blog about local businesses in Southern Maryland was born. I don't just want to blog about the business, I want to introduce you to what these businesses do, who works in them and hopefully provide residents of Southern Maryland some information, entertainment and value.

So, stay tuned.
